Architectural Committee - August 2021

Being the trustee over the architectural committee challenges this year has truly been a learning experience for me.  Now that I have a good basic understanding regarding the work of the architectural committee the time has come to allow the committee to become a little more autonomous. I will be overseeing the committee.  All requests will come through the board, recorded, and  then forwarded to the committee for processing and returned to the board for final signatures.

I have said it before,  I do not  believe in micromanaging committees.  We have a committee chair for a reason, to do the tasks that they have been assigned.

From a homeowner perspective you should not see any changes in the process. When submitting an architectural request,  we do request that you make every attempt to make the requests legible and include any drawings or pictures as needed.  Please read the guidelines in the Sign Post. If you are asking for a shed to be placed in the rear of your yard, again go back and read the regulations. Do not ask for fences or living fences to be placed on the property line or on common grounds.

It is not permitted.  Again, refer to your Covenant and Restriction’s as well as your Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations.  If you follow these simple steps, it will expedite your request by not having to send out denials and asking for resubmissions. Again, this will help expedite the process.

In addition, I am aware that it is stated that the forms  must be submitted for approval by the second Tuesday of the month. This may be virtually impossible  if you submit a request the day before the trustee meeting. Many of these requests are complicated and may contain 3-4 requests on one form.

The committee does on occasion come out to the property for a visual inspection or clarification,  it is totally unreasonable to expect this to be completed in one day.  Please allow at least 30 days from the submission of your form for final approval. If you have any questions, please let us know.
