From the Desk of the President - November 2021

Dear Neighbors,

Please note that the Meet and Greet has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 14. We apologize to those of you who showed up to locked doors for the first Meet and Greet date. We hope that you will sign up for Robocall so that you will be informed immediately of any closures or other changes to schedules.

Legislation:
We have good news about Senate Bill 2861 (and companion Bill 5390). This bill is overridden by the Housing for Older Persons Act. At the Coalition Meeting on October 1, 2021, Steve Milenak, Esq., of the Community Associations Institute, New Jersey Legislative Action Committee, and an attorney with Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith and Davis, advised that these bills are not intended to address 55 and over communities. The Legislative Action Committee, of which Mr. Milenak is a member, supports bills that are beneficial to our communities and blocks bills adverse to our communities. This committee has been following this legislation and had no objection to it, because 55 and over communities are considered legal housing under the Housing for Older Persons Act.

The Covid Immunity Bill: According to Mr. Milenak, the CAI pushed the Legislature and the Governor to adopt the original COVID immunity bill which expires Dec. 31, 2021. He said that almost the entire legislature approved of the bill. Mr. Milenak indicated that Covid Immunity legislation will be proposed by Senator Christopher Connors, Assemblyman Brian Rumpf, and Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove after the November election. CAI anticipates that the legislature will have sufficient support to extend the COVID immunity bill for at least the year 2022.  This will be good news for our community, because it will allow us to remain open after the December 31, 2021 date. Support this proposed bill by contacting your representatives.

Proposed Rules and Regulations:
Please read the Proposed Rules and Regulations on p. 12 & 13. We would like your input on these proposed rules and regulations at the November 8th quarterly HOA Meeting, scheduled for 6 pm at the clubhouse. You are also invited to speak about other issues of concern to you. Please understand, that, in the interest of time, we will limit every speaker to two minutes. This way everyone who wishes to speak will get a chance to speak. If you want, you can bring a written summary of your concerns, with your name, address, and phone number, so we can follow up with you.
