Board of Trustees Meeting - May 13, 2019

Call to Order:  President Pelonero called the meeting to order at 8:16 PM.  The meeting was held in accordance with the SRPW Governing Documents and Robert’s Rules of Order, 11th Edition, and is being recorded.

A motion to dispense with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Opening Prayer, the Roll Call of Officers and Trustees, Correspondence, Trustee Reports, Committee Reports, Unfinished Business, Announcements and Good and Welfare as they were covered in the prior Quarterly Homeowners meeting was made by Jack Easson and seconded by Elizabeth Wismann.  All were in favor; motion carried.

Minutes of Preceding Meeting: Requested a motion to approve the February 11, 2019 Quarterly Homeowners Meeting minutes as presented (minutes were printed in April 2019 Sentinel).  Motion to accept was made by Jack Easson and seconded by Rosemary Bahooshian.  All were in favor; motion carried.

April 8, 2019 Board of Trustee Meeting Minutes: Requested a motion to approve the April 8, 2019 Board of Trustee Meeting minutes as presented.  Motion to accept was made by Elizabeth Wismann and seconded by Mary Nye. All were in favor; motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:  April 2019 Monthly Cash Disbursements/Cash Report was read by Treasurer Lorraine Romero.  Lorraine Barbalinardo questioned why the R&R was not being used in the months where we have a minus.  Mike explained that the R&R account is for Repair & Replacement; the idea is a real snapshot of what we are paying and what we are getting.  Lorraine Romeo then read the bank balance amounts. Lorraine Barbalinardo again expressed her displeasure with the minus status.  There being no other questions, the report was accepted as read.  Same will be filed in the library and printed in next month’s Sentinel.

Mike asked for a motion to make a donation to the Silver Ridge Park First Aid Squad of $50.  Rosemary Bahooshian made a motion to donate $50 to the Silver Ridge Park First Aid Squad seconded by Lorraine Barbalinardo.  All were in favor; motion carried.

Mike asked for a motion to accept the Covenants & Restrictions and By-laws as revised and distribute to all homeowners.  Jim Egan made a motion to accept the revised Covenants & Restrictions and By-laws and distribute to all homeowners; Mary Nye seconded the motion. President Pelonero then requested that all trustees be polled on this motion.  All trustees responded affirmatively when asked for their response to this motion.  These governing documents will be printed and mailed to homeowners by end of this month.  Mike also stated that these Covenants & Restrictions and By-laws will also be required to be passed over to next owners whenever changes are made to the deed for whatever reason, such as resale, death, inheritance, etc.

We also had a brief discussion about changing the time of our homeowner and trustee meetings from 6:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the homeowners meeting held prior to this meeting.  A motion to change the time of our meetings to 2:00 PM was made by Elizabeth Wismann and seconded by Joe McCurnin.  Carol Scherm requested discussion about this change.  Carol stated that we now have newer people who are working and won’t be able to attend the meetings.  Mike stated that these newer people don’t come to our meetings scheduled for 6:30 pm and he is willing to try this time change to get more people to come out.  We can always change things if this doesn’t work.  Mike again polled the trustees and again, everyone responded affirmatively.  Beginning with our June 2019 meeting, all meetings will be held at 2:00 PM.

As you may remember, a lawsuit was brought against Holiday City Carefree for not selling to persons under age 55.  Carefree has been paying attorney fees in their defense of this lawsuit.  The case went to court in March and the judge ruled in favor of Carefree.  Now, the decision is being appealed.  At our coalition meeting last week, it was agreed that members of the coalition would contribute $1,000 at this time towards the cost of the appeal.  If we should lose this case, it could mean the end of our status as a 55 and over community and become very costly for our communities.  Jim Egan made a motion to contribute $1,000 towards this appeal; seconded by Carol Scherm.  All were in favor; motion carried.

A request was made by President Pelonero for a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Jack Easson made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Elizabeth Wismann.  All were in favor, motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
