Trustees' Corner - November 2021

Fran Hurley:
November may be just prime apple and pumpkin picking time, but there are still plenty of fun fall activities to do during the final month of autumn. And since it gets dark much earlier in November, there’s even more reason to squeeze in a fall activity or two before winter arrives and the holiday rush makes you too busy to do anything else. Note that this year, for everyone’s health
and safety, participate in small group activities as often as possible. Veteran’s Day is November 11th. It is held to honor our military veterans dead or alive. Thank you for your service to all our veterans. I like to wish all our residents a Happy Thanksgivings.

George Mason:
Well hello HCS! The leaves have changed and are falling as we read this issue of the Southwind. Hopefully, most of them are down and removed by the final grass cutting. Those of us who will rake the remaining leaves must be mindful not to blow or rake them into our streets. Please bag the leaves for pickup. Certain outside activities are available, and I would encourage our members to participate, weather permitting. Indoor activities are posted in the monthly Southwinds. Everyone, especially our newer members, are asked to enjoy them.

Rich Bohan:
Our first Homeowners Meet & Greet was on September 11th. Our next one will be on October 16th and the new one will be on November 6th. They were by invitation only…that takes care of June 2021. In the spring will be having Meet & Greets for the balance of the 2021 year.

Please remember that the Trustees will be having a Thanksgiving Day Dinner from 12 noon until 4pm. The cost is $18.00 per person. The Holiday Tree Lighting will be held on December 4th from 6pm to 10pm. I want to say thank you to all our veterans on November 11th – Veteran’s Day. Remember to fly the American Flag on the 11th. Also, have a happy Thanksgiving Day. God Bless. Remember the Holidays are with us so stay safe. Hope to see everyone soon. God Bless.

John Fay:
Wishing all the residents of Holiday City South and their families a Happy and Peaceful Thanksgiving.

Debbie Fazio:
Hello friends and neighbors. This is the month of Thanksgiving and, in my opinion, the most wonderful time of the year. There are so many things to be thankful for this year. I love this holiday because it costs nothing to be thankful or to let others know that you are. Thankful for their love and friendship. So many of us have come through this horrible year and a half, better or stronger people. I’m blessed with a wonderful family and equally wonderful friends. I want to thank all of you for your friendship and for all that you have contributed to my life, no matter how small.

May your Thanksgiving be filled with family and friends sharing together everything you are thankful for. We certainly should count our blessing, but also to remember to make our blessings count. Until next month, stay safe and healthy.

Adrian Corrigan, Vice President:
This month we will be participating or celebrating many special days. Tuesday, November 2nd is Election Day, and you are strongly encouraged to make your vote count and be heard by participating in this year’s election. November 6th is our 2nd New Homeowners “Meet and Greet”. This is from 10:30 AM to 12 noon and it is by invitation only. October was very informative,
and we are confident this one will be equally successful. Thanks again to all the volunteers who helped make these affairs so great. You are the Best of the Best! If you haven’t received an invitation by November 1st and believe you should have, please call the office at Ext. 12 and Terry will be happy to check it out for you. We apologize if we missed anyone and will correct it immediately. November 7th is Daylight Savings Time (Fall Back-Spring Ahead). You might think about pushing your clock back one hour before you go to sleep on the 6th. Thanksgiving is Thursday November 25th and the Trustees are once again serving a full meal at our clubhouse (at a moderate cost) to our residents who would like to join us. Please contact Rich Bohan for all details. Gale and I would like to wish everyone a safe and healthy Thanksgiving.

As a member of the Men’s Club, we’d like to congratulate Bill Holencsak, his board and all volunteers for an outstanding Halloween Party and Fundraiser! They had a tremendous turnout with many creative costumes that far exceeded any that came before! Kudos to all of you!

On another note, clubhouse business especially maintenance and repairs are continuing as usual. We’ve just made our “yearly change of smoke detector batteries” as we do the 1st of November every year!

Thanks for all your support of all our clubs and activities. WHEN THEY SUCCEED – WE ALL SUCCEED!
