Trustees' Corner - January 2022

Adrian Corrigan, Vice President:
I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year. This year’s Christmas toy drive for the United State Marines was a big success. Thank you to all who contributed to the toy drive. Winter is coming soon, so that means a lot of indoor activities. Come out and support the clubs and have some fun.

Debbie Fazio:
New Year’s means so many different things to so many people. Making New Year’s resolutions symbolizes the ending of one year and the beginning of yet another. We celebrate this event, yet it is only a moment in time like any other day, but it is also considered a time when new beginnings can happen.

It’s a time to say good-bye and a time to say hello. A time to bid farewell and a time to look forward. A time to let go and a time to learn new things. Here’s hoping you let go of the old and welcome the new into your life this new year!

This month’s calendar has a fun activity for you to try. January 11th is a day that we are asked to learn a name in Morse Code. See if you can figure out which Trustee’s name is written on the calendar in Morse code. It could be a nickname, shortened name, first or last name, or a formal name. Have some fun with this one!

A note of caution for those who are out and about during the winter months. Wear boots or shoes that prevent slipping and sliding. While driving be aware of ice on the roads even if you can’t see it. Black ice is the most dangerous! And remember to bundle up and keep yourself warm to help prevent colds and flu.

UNTIL NEXT MONTH, STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY!!

George Mason:
Happy New Year to all. I truly hope your holiday season went well. Let’s hope 2022 brings nothing but good health, joy and happiness to our community. Just to inform everyone, our newly created Code Committee is up and running and I’d personally like to thank those who stepped forward to participate. It was refreshing to see so many of our members applying. Going forward, good luck to them and I sincerely hope great progress will be made with their proactive efforts to enhance the appearance of HCS. Don’t forget to sign up for the various outdoor activities starting this month; Bocce Ball, Pickleball, Shuffleboard, etc. We will have teams created for spring play. New equipment is also being ordered for these sports. Two new indoor activities are also being considered and further information will be forthcoming. Stay well and be happy!

John Fay:
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and you have a warm, and comfortable winter.

To those unaware in the community, George Mason (trustee in charge of the game rooms) and Tony Pica (in charge of the woodworking shop when the tables were completed) of the work they did revamping four of our card tables. That are now 52 inches across, and they all are on pedestals. One of the tables took Tony 40 hours of work to upgrade. The tables were also covered in new green felt to make it easier to pick up the cards; thereby saving the association $2,000.00 that was earmarked for new tables which enabled us to use the money elsewhere. Thank you both.

Richard Bohan:
Well, the holidays are over and hope you had a wonderful time. I want to thank all the people that volunteered to make the clubhouse ready for the holidays. The men that helped set up all the outdoor decorations and the ladies and gentlemen that put up and dressed our Christmas trees. There was a great group of people who put on a wonderful holiday show that made so many people happy and there was a New Year’s Party that was great. Please let’s hope and pray for a peaceful 2022. God Bless

I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year. January is also a prime time to look back on all you've accomplished in the past year. As the days get shorter and the temperature gets colder, we could all use a few reasons to celebrate in January. After all the hubbub of the holidays, you most likely need some serious "me time"- sit back and relax with a good book or a glass of wine.
