One of the current candidates for the Board, Michael Alegre, has written a letter to the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) accusing the Board of Directors of wrongdoing concerning the Board election for the year 2020. The letter states in part that we knowingly violated the law by not holding a formal election. At the end of 2020, we had three seats available and the three board members submitted their resumes. There were no other appropriate resumes submitted that conformed to our governing documents.
We were forced to consult our attorney to address this matter.
This consultation does not come at a low price. We have heard from our attorney who contacted the DCA on our behalf, and we now know that the DCA found NO wrongdoing on our part. They recognize that we followed our governing documents during the Covid-19 Pandemic to the best of our ability. They realize that moving forward into 2021 we are prepared to follow the amendments to the Radburn Act.
Unfounded accusations serve no good purpose. Rumors are created and people who work diligently for the good of the community have their reputations sullied.
