Shareowners Meeting - August 7, 2019

 
The Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. All directors were present for this meeting with the exception of John McGuinness and Henry Reinhard. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance with a moment of silence for our men and women serving in the Armed Services. A prayer was read. There were 87 residents in attendance. A motion was made to forego the reading of June’s minutes as they were printed in the paper. 
 
Committee Reports: 
Sue DeMaria: The Day Planners are having a trip to Ellis Island on October 16th and to Smithville on December 10th. Anyone wishing to sign up for trips, Sue is in the back of the room. 
 
Directors Reports:
Mario: Grass Cutting.  The grass cutters are not responsible for sprinkler heads. All sprinkler heads must be in the down position.
 
Beverly gave the treasurer's report as he was not at this meeting. 
 
The balance of accounts as of July 31, 2019. General account $610,891.79, Payroll account $26,345.24, Capital improvement $452,856.27.
 
Barbara Benson gave the housing report which is printed separately in the paper. Also anyone wishing to have an article in the September paper must have it in the office by Friday the 9th.
 
Terry: The lakes have been treated this year. This treatment is not harmful to the wildlife. Verizon is still working in the community and any complaint should be directed to her. In John’s absence, she is working on the modifications and the tree complaints. 
 
Barbara Egner asked the smokers to refrain from throwing their lit cigarettes into the bushes as the mulch around them can catch fire. She also asked that anyone having garbage, when leaving the pool to either put it in the garbage pails, or take it home to dispose of it. Do not throw it in the parking lot. At the end of the year there will be two openings on the board, anyone interested in running must be a resident in good standing and has lived here for one year. They also must attend a course at Community College.  All resumes must be in the office by September 1st. A pool user suggested that the children be allowed to stay at the pool on Labor Day. The board approved this suggestion.   The complete report is printed separately in the paper.
 
Old Business:
Ronnie Smith wanted to know who is responsible for the sidewalk and curb in front of the house. The owner is responsible for the sidewalk. The curb may be repaired by the Township.
 
Mary Mihalko spoke to the Mayor regarding the problem with the curbs and she was told the township will do curbs. She also stated that she was told that people can walk their dogs in the easement and what could be done to stop this. She was told that Berkeley Township has an ordinance that animals must be curbed and waste must be picked up. If this is not done there is a $250.00 fine. 
 
Marge Penn questioned the article in the Community Connection regarding S2425. Barbara E. explained the attorney for the corporation, Judy Noonan, and Senator Connors are working to oppose legislation of this bill. She also explained that our governing documents take precedence over this bill.  
 
Paul Carruba suggested that a petition from the office against this bill be sent to Judy Noonan, and Senator Connors.
 
Janice Conti asked about this bill and just what it is trying to accomplish. Barbara E. will put an article in the paper requesting this bill not be passed. She also asked what the cause of loss was for clubhouse 2. It has not been determined. A discussion followed, with a question and answer period followed. 
 
Pat Grogan asked about the house on  Biabou Avenue and what was being done. That issue has been addressed and a resolution will be amended to stop this type of building in the future. 
 
Our next meeting will be September 4th at 1:00 in clubhouse 1, Barbara E. will not be at this meeting. 
 
Mayor Amato will be having a Town Hall Meeting at clubhouse 1 on October 9th. 
A motion was made and second to adjourn the meeting at  8:35.
